Could someone give me a link to deep cleaning my shotgun. I'm picking up a new ssberg 835 and want to get it right.

Do you want to really deep clean and polish your barrel or just clean it real good? If you want to deep clean and polish your barrel you should use the technic in the old gobbler link that Smooth_Operator gave. If you want to clean your barrel use silvestis link. From my own experience a good cleaning alone did not improve my patterns. But with a deep cleaning and polishing my patterns improved.
What he said.
I only improved my patterns after going through the whole shebang as well. Just be careful with the polishing.
I never polished my 835 barrel. I just deep cleaned and cleaned it very well every 4-5 shots, a season basically. She always stayed around 215 in the 10" at 40 with Hevi 6s

I just did a deep clean and polish on my barrel this weekend, and WOW! I really took my time with it and followed the directions in the link above. I'm very pleased withe the results on how good it looks, have not had a chance to shoot due to the sub freezing temps. I noticed no tooling marks and a mirror finish.

It does make a differance for the better
I was surprised at the difference deep cleaning made in my 870 one polished and paired with a sumtoy choke I got a gun I would never give up

Here are the step by step instructions for "deep cleaning" a shotgun barrel, originally written for the 835 but will help any new or used shotgun.
It's generally all you'll need to do to improve performance. You'll be surprised at the gunk that comes from even new shotguns.

If you choose to polish your bore, I recommend that you not use abrasive products that may create low spots in your bore.
Thanks,
Clark
I may try to deep clean my barrel this weekend but the link Clark posted wouldn't open for me. Any help?
