Hey guys!
Not only did I have a miserable turkey season, buy I lost a couple strikers! :'( :'(
Both pot calls are slate over glass, and I have heard one of the best materials out there is dymondwood.
I prefer a flared tip striker because I feel they do a better job of getting a good purr out of the pot.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a particular callmaker? If other woods are good, feel free to chime in!
Check out a Cedar striker from Wendell Rye of Lights Out for a slate call, pure killer.
I hear Jimmy Schaffer's red dymondwood is killer, but not sure if it is flared.
Hate to hear you had a bad season buddy! Take care.
Lights out or Bill Lyman( callmakerman) on here

I don't like dymondwood on my slate calls.
Rye cedar is nice and quiet. I also really like his Osage on slate. Tullipwood from Fred Cox is really nice too.
Torman black locust is my favorite, but it's not flared

Thanks Donald!
Just wasn't meant to be I guess. If I had heard gobbling it would have been tolerable, but I had only one day where they were talking.
West Augusta black locust. Not a flare tip - but best all around and purring striker I've had.
(I used to prefer a flared tip also - but Steve's striker has such a great "feel" to it, I now prefer it. It can purr on slate, glass, crystal, titanium, etc.)
The only Dymondwood I run on slate is Schafers. It's not flared, but it sounds awesome.. (Hate flared tips), very often I run hickory on slate. My buddy has a persimmon he likes, also a Purple Heart, all straight, think his are from Halloran n I believe he offers flared
