After some extremely long sits in WY the past few days I'm ready to toss my seat (pad on a Cabelas vest) in the trash. Another guy had a Cabelas Gobbler Lounger which I tried and it was extremely comfortable. Just wondering if there are any others anyone would suggest checking out? Any reviews for the Alpz outdoors chair?
Alpz are the Cadillac of hunting chairs, albeit a little heavier. I carry one into the woods. Its a Browning, but made by Alpz.

A few years back, Campmor offered a fold-up ground lounger that I've used successfully for both deer and turkey hunting. My wife even made an elongated covered foam pad for my back and bottom since sitting for 5-6 hours gets old. Be sure to put a plastic bag under the ground lounger since your butt may touch the wet ground below. It's also great for sleeping as evidenced one turkey season when I snoozed off only to be awakened by a gobbler beating up my decoys! I did manage to successfully send a load of #5 shot his way, even in my groggy condition!

Great decision. I took the cushion off my vest years ago and never looked back. No cushion, no chair and a bunch of dead turkeys later, I'll never go back. Of course I also live in an area with plenty of trees to lean against. That might not be the case in your part of the country.
I have the Cabelas Gobbler Lounger and love it. Haven't tried any others.
Thanks guys! Looks like there are a few good looking ones to choose from. I'm guessing that I'd be happy with any of them.

These are on close out in our area for 15 bucks. Can't beat them for the $, I bought two.
I have a gobbler lounger and I honestly don't know how I hunted all those years without it. Well worth it.
Have used a gob lounger from cabelas for going on 7-8 years now, it has killed me some turkeys I'd say, I am not the best sit and waiter, it makes it more tolerable.
Carrying the thing is an absolute somb though, it's too heavy, they all are, I'd pay double what they sell for now if they would make an aluminum model that weighed half.
Pros you cant sit a good while and be pretty comfy
cons clunky heavy pain to carry
Well I never thought I'd carry a chair in the woods, but after hunting this season with the thug chair I don't know how I got along without it. I've had some back problems and sitting against a tree was becoming a problem but I can sit for hours comfortably in the chair.
I bought the turkey thug chair from walmart this year, best $20 I've spent in a while. I'm not a small man and it is holding up just fine.
I will occasionally pull out the Chair, yes it's way more comfortable but a huge pain to carry.
Thinking about switching to a kickstand vest
I bought one of the Browning chairs from Amazon. It is much more comfortable than previous chairs that I have owned, and broken, over the years. It seems to be built like a tank. Yes, it may weigh a bit more than other chairs and you will see it is a more expensive choice than most. But, as usual, you get what you pay for. I spend a lot of hours in mine and my older bones think it is a good investment. jperch
I have the Alps Outdoors Turkey chair and the Turkey Thug chair sold at Walmart. They both are very comfortable. The Alps is better built but weighs a little more. Either of these chairs make long sets very enjoyable.
The RedHead turkey chair has been the piece of equipment I will not go without it can at times be annoying to carry but having the ability to sit as long as you need will lead to more birds than just about anything else I would leave my calls at home and take my chair if I had to choose between the two.
Think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on a chair for next year. My back is destroyed and its really affecting my ability to sit still.
got one of the chairs from wally world
do not leave the camper without it
I used the Turkey Thugs chair this year. I highly recommend it!
I have the gobbler lounger which I use occasionally if I think I'll be sitting for a longer time. I also bought the Alps but the back's not high enough for me to be real comfortable.
I have a Turkey THUGS Gobbler Chair. I love it. It is a little heavy but worth toting.
Used a Cabelas Lounger for several years, until it finally broke. I picked up a Turkey Thugs brand from Walmart last year. Virtually identical to the Cabelas model. Age is definitely a factor in whether or not you lug one of these around. Twenty-somethings need not apply, but when you have been chasing turkeys for almost 4 decades, they are a Godsend. I got to where a few days in the turkey woods would leave me almost crippled. Now, I can sit for hours, jump right up and start walking with little or no back pain.
My best hunting buddy is 10 years my junior. I had been trying to convince him to get a lounger, to no avail, so a couple of years ago, I bought him one from Cabelas. He immediately started making excuses about how he would probably only use it on afternoon hunts, etc. Now, I think he is more likely to go hunting without his shotgun. ;)

Same here. I love the comfort of the chair but it keeps me from being as mobile as I'd like.
I'll be checking out the Tactical Tater version and the Tenzing this off-season. Any others out there that you can think of?
Anyone running the Kick stand vest from cabelas? I was thinking this might be the perfect compromise between the vest and cusion and the turkey chair options.

no thats all i know of and the tenzing is crazy $$$ only way I would buy it if it had a homing devise to birds with 1-1/4+ spurs built in.
the Tater kick stand is little less than half that and with some points or a coupon I could see picking one up and parting with my Tater II to a good buddy who needs a vest

I checked prices after I posted. Tenzing=Wow! :z-dizzy: I will make it a point to check out the Cabelas. I may wait for a while to see if they put them on sale.
After hearing about the gobbler lounger on here, I decided to purchase one. On a "typical" turkey hunt, I probably wouldn't bring it, but if I knew it was going to be a sit and wait type hunt, I would surely come along.
Typically, I have to readjust positions occasionally if I have been sitting a while. I used the chair for the first and only time a couple of weeks ago on a hunt where I knew birds were using the area but not responding to calls. I was able to sit and wait the entire hunt in complete comfort. I hate to hunt turkeys like that, but the chair makes it a lot more comfortable.
