Title: I haven't gotten enough yet this year...can anyone help with a little info?
Post by: TnRidgeRunner on April 28, 2015, 12:25:11 PM
TN season is winding down and it's been great, but I'm not done yet. I'm thinking about trying to move north a little to try a hunt where the season is still in it's earlier stages but don't know where to go. I can be in ohio or Indiana pretty quick and easy, are there any public hunting areas that would be worth the drive and license fees? Not looking for specific spots, just land that had birds and room to move.

I would give kentucky a try your allowed 2 birds, and there is also good public ground to hunt. The Kleber WMA in Owen Co. Ky is full of birds

TN season ends May 17th. You still have time unless you think the birds in your area are done.

I definitely appreciate  it guys. The birds in my area are pretty much done...some gobbling on the roost (when I say some, I mean you may or may not hear one gobble...and there's plenty in the area to gobble). I also only have one tag left for TN so I figured I'd venture off.

Ok, I decided on KY, anyone know if I need a special permit for the public land? (in TN we have to have a type 092 for WMA's)

Lots of land on Dbnf, and I'm pretty sure you just need a nonresident tag. Double check.

You can get OTC tags in Indiana. Take I65 right up into Hoosier National Forest. A lot of state forest land down there also.
