The amount of hooting and howling in the early morning from all the owls and bigfoots running around my lease has moved the turkeys deeper. All the road riders and runners have got some turks tightlipped, but on the bright side they burn out quickly
Yes, most only hunt the first weekend... and just like you said.. they stay on/near the roads
X. 2.
I feel your pain brother.. I think that's why I like the last two weeks of the season more than anything..
whenever my dad mentions doing a lease with multiple guys i remind him that people are the reason you look for private spots instead of public not pay money to turn private into public. Id rather have a small piece I share with a few like minded friends.
my lease is like this from first day until the last. you guys that have the last 2 weeks to yourselves are extremely lucky.
I guess this is even more true if you can only hunt on the weekends. But around my club, if you can hunt mon-wed .. you have the entire place to yourself..
This is the reason I am not in a club lease
either way, it beats public land to me.. at least in the club I know the other members... who is hunting, etc. No telling what you may run into on public land.
I hunt public and private, the guys on the lease don't bother me,I was making a comment about what I hear and see.im on turkeys no one else is hunting,I move away from the roads so me and tom won't be interrupted. I don't mind the lease good hunting.but sitting in the dark while I'm ploting on tom I can hear the owls but the Turks don't answer.i hear creepy bigfoot howls, coyote howls and Turks don't answer. Turkeys are all over the countryside, but not gobbling at these locator calls.
