I've volunteered to help a friends 13 y/old son get his first bird. Wondering if any of you had experience with a load/choke combo that worked well out of a 20ga Nova. Money is tight so really can't afford to do much "trying". Experience with a load/factory full choke would be even better. Thanks in advance.
For a 13 year old I would see what kind of results you can get from the factory full with Fed HW 7's. I think you would probably find them effective to at least 30 yards with a fairly forgiving pattern, which should be good for a young shooter. There are of course chokes that will easily take that load to 40 yards, but probably not what you want in this case.
Thanks for the help fellas.
I'd get a trulock choke designed for Federal heavyweight#7.I have shoot that combo in a Franchi affinity and my 9 year old Tristar. It deadly at 40 yards. My son son has killed two gobblers with that combo, one at 35 yards and another just over 40 yards.
