I have never been a huge fan of slate I have had some good ones all the recommended ones blah blah but I picked up a walnut slate from Halloran and got a paduak one piece striker and that thing is sick it yelps like a glass call and cuts like crazy the paduak sounds good in my platz too either one is what I'll be using when next time I get one that needs some sweet talking to
People always talk about David's glass calls but I'm telling you now that walnut slate will run with any slate I have ever played period
I've got his laminate slate and it is one awesome call.
I've never ran across any of his calls that didn't speak turkey, a great call maker no doubt...
