Hey Guys,
I just ordered my tags for South Dakota. Looking to be up there around the 25th of April. I was wondering if anyone had some input on the campgrounds up there in the Black Hills. My brother and I are planning to pitch a tent and camp out the whole weekend. We aren't looking for anything to over the top. Trying to keep it more country/outdoors hunting trip. The only real requirements would be a place to build a fire and a bathroom. A shower would be nice since we will be there for 4-5 days but it is not needed.
Any help?
Thank guys
Bump....
KOA has a campground by Hill City.
You'd have to check on the regulations for having a fire, but the last time I was out there, people were camped all over the National Forest. Campers everywhere, and unfortunately, several of them camped right where we had killed birds the year before.
The regulations for fire (when we were out there a couple years ago anyways) stated that you cannot have a fire anywhere other than designated campground areas.
When we stayed there, we camped in the Game Lodge Campground. It was one of the few campgrounds that was open year round, and most of them were closed when we were out there mid-april.
There were plenty of people camping in tents and stuff, but we stayed in the little cabins on the grounds, as it was going to be pretty cold at night and had some rain/snow in the forecast.
There were bathrooms and showers there..
Depending on what part of the Hills

Thanks guys,
Any tips on finding the birds? Are they hard to find or is there a lot of them?
I believe all the reservoirs have forest service campgrounds. They may not be officially open till Memorial Day, but have seen a few camps before that time.
Good luck to you taking my wife on her first turkey hunt we will be there about the same time we plan on just camping in the woods but a shower would be great
Looks like mountain meadow resort it is
