What's the best way to cut slate? Band saw, hack saw, dremmel tool? I have some and was going to try to make a caller out of some turtle shells, so the cuts are going to be irregular. Thanks Sam
I have used a hack saw before for a turtle shell call. Just yesterday I used a drill bit that was three inches in diameter and is used to bore circular holes in whatever. If you take your time it should cut fine using a hack saw. The slate I was cutting was only about 1/8 inch thick.
Band saw fine teeth slow speed I've cut hundreds of pieces this way no problem.
I have used bandsaw...but i bought a 3-1/2" diameter diamond dusted hole saw and it is a lot easier, put it in the drill press drip a little water every now and then and go for it clean cutting perfect circles...
