Title: Roosted birds
Post by: Brantley on March 28, 2015, 08:59:01 PM
I worked bird a few days ago and he hung up. I went back today to try and get him and slipped in where I figured he had been strutting and gobbling. I use owl hooters, although I don't get a ton of responses, I do get one to gobble every now then off an owl. I used it today to no avail. As I sat there and the sky started turnig grey, I figured I give a little tree talk. Two hens responded withing 20 yards of where I was sitting. I was way too close and I watched them fly down and promptly leave the area. This is a two part question I'm about to ask: 1) is there any locator that will make a hen reveal her location. 2) have any of you ever used a duck call to elicit a gobble?

I have heard them gobble at geese. Do you have a honker call?
