Title: Federal HW7 and Remingtons
Post by: wolverines on March 25, 2015, 01:00:03 PM
I'm looking to try both the 3" and 3.5" HW7's in my Remington 870 and 11-87.  I currently have Jellyhead .665, Primos Tightwad, and factory Rem Xtra Full and Rem Super Full chokes.  Has anyone had any success with any of these chokes and the HW7

The rem factory x full did okay with the fed heviweight #7 in all three of my 11-87's. Two have the 21" barrel and the other has a 23". I am currently shooting a Truelock built for the HW #7, and am getting outstanding results.

Another plug for the Trulock HW .650 choke for the Remington/Heavyweight #7 combination.  :OGturkeyhead:

Of the chokes you've mentioned, you should see better results from the Tightwad and Remington X-Full & S-Full chokes you have.

Thanks,
Clark

But the Trulock Heavyweight .650 choke should pattern the HW 7's the best for you in your Remington 12 gauges. :OGturkeyhead:

The tightwad shoots the fed hvy 7 great in my 21" 11 87.160 - 170 in the 10.

I have a Remington Extra Full extended choke that says lead only. Has anyone shot the Fed HW 7's or Hevi shot through this choke?

I shoot an 870, and I shot the HW #7 before I got on the TSS kick.  If you want that shell to reach its true potential then get the Truelock choke and be done with it.  That stuff is IMHO the best factory load available.

YOU boys have me sold on the trulock.  Are there any online retailers carrying them or do I need to direct order from the company?
