Title: Easiest style to make???
Post by: wisconsinteacher on March 23, 2015, 09:30:06 PM
After the post about the student wanting to make a pot call, I started thinking about other calls he could make.  If you were to have a student make a call, what would you have them try?

Box call
Pot call
Trough call
Tube call
Scratch box

I would think if you had many tools to use which looks like they would ,,, I would think for the quickest satisfaction makin turkey sounds
Tube
Scratch
Box
Pot
Trough ,,, I never made one but have a few and they look like some work involved

A vibrating tongue call. Super easy to make and you don't need any special woods, woods that most high schools have on hand. A little bit of glue and some sand paper to finish it. PM me if you want instructions.

I would think that a scratch box would be a great project. I keep any scrap wood that I have for building a few each year and theres not really a ton of time into building one. The hardest part as with any call is the tuning but for the most part sanding will help get the sound.
