Title: M2 barrel cleaning?
Post by: Ranger007 on March 20, 2015, 11:40:18 PM
Any advice or tips on cleaning a M2 barrel?

Cleaned it from factory with #9 and been pulling bore snake between shots didn't know if anyone did any deep cleaning on these guns? I assume no polish is needed?

Want to get it shined up for next week

Chrome lined so don't polish. Just a good cleaning will suffice. Just clean with alcohol then run a dry patch through it. Oil in the barrel will usually open patterns.

I use Shooters Choice Xtreme Cleaner. Let it sit in the bore for about 10 minutes.  Then run 2 dry patches down it.  Then put some on a brush and make 25 passes with it.  Then use a dry patch until it's clean. Then run a patch of denatured alcohol and then a dry patch and you're ready to go.

This was after 5 shots.  You can see how the plastic from the wad builds up.

I will also polish my barrels by hand every 2-3 years. Nothing aggressive though.  (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/21/49aecbd5761a06c2cf52870daa546ac8.jpg)
