That is actually my kind of vest.  Some of these "tactical" turkey vests seem to weigh quite a bit with nothing even in them.

I currently have an old Lynch vest...

3 things I am looking for that mine does not have:
1) Box call pocket
2) Shell loops
3) Magnetic fastener for seat (as opposed to snaps)...

I currently plan to just use my backpack, or at least get a fanny pack. I am tempted to get a vest though. That is a reputable brand at a good price. I almost feel like a vest is one of those things that new turkey hunters are told they have to get.

This vest is identical to a Russell Athletic model I have in Mossy Oak. I removed the buckles and installed a zipper. Also, the horizontal pocket for strikers is terrible; you will lose strikers. I installed extra snaps there for more security. It is a good entry level vest, overall.

You will probly get over the backpack or fanny pack phase pretty quick. The convenience of a vest is too much. The key is getting a good quality vest with nice seat and padded back. Not knocking the pack users but you will notice that most use a vest and there is a reason for that

I agree...  For all my other hunting I find a backpack to be the best option...

However, for turkey hunting, I do not care for it (or a fanny-pack):
