Title: Hickory strikers
Post by: packmule on March 13, 2015, 04:52:34 PM
Who makes a really good hickory striker?  Lots of folks like to run them so I'm curious who has made the good ones that you're running?  I have a really good one from Lyle (Houndstooth) but I'm looking for another and wanted to see what the suggestions were from all of you.

Here's one of my favorite Hickory strikers. It was made a few years ago by Alex Williams. I found a package deal on several of his strikers and ended up with around six Hickories, Bubinga, Bocote, & Cherry. His strikers are some of the best balanced I have run. I am not sure if he is still making calls though.

I'm rather fond of a Harold Fowler hickory.

Bill Lyman, Steve Torman, Harold Fowler, Fred Cox all make excellent strikers

I got one of them Alex Williams Hickory Strikers. I like it. It sounds great on a Bubinga Double Sided Slate Caller I got from him.
