Title: Weatherby SA-459
Post by: IowaGobblers on March 12, 2015, 07:32:28 PM
Have a couple of questions about the gun. Gallery of guns has the older model "threat response" on sale for around $360. First I know its the older model 459 with the bigger front sight, and was wondering if there is anyway to remove it. Second, this model has a 18.5" barrel compared to the 22" on the turkey model, will this affect anything pattern wise? I plan on throwing a sumtoy in her and feeding her some fed hw 7's.
Thanks

The front sight on mine is removable. I removed it & put a Burris on it. The iron sight is held on with an Allen screw.

Thanks for the input. Seems like a nice little gun and  most the guys who have the gun enjoy it. Hopefully a couple more might chime in.
Thanks

It is a nice gun! Mine's throwing 180+/- in the 10 @ 40yds with a sumtoy & fed hw 7's. 165+/- with the Rob Roberts tube. Really sweet set up. I also put a Beretta gel pad on the stock that is super sweet. It's a stick on pad that is clear so the camo shows through. Here's a pic of mine with the front sight removed.

I just picked up the turkey model.  I am getting 160s at 40 yards with HW#7 and Trulock.  I don't want it any tighter than that.  Easy pointing and sweet shooting gun so far.  Hopefully will have a pic with it resting on a tom in a week or so (opens in 8 days).
