Title: Decoys are ready!
Post by: JLH on March 11, 2015, 12:45:27 PM
The DSD was a little beat up from last season, and the new Deception boss hen needed a few tweaks for my ocd issues....
here's the final outcome after a hour or so of hand painting....I still need to flock the back of the jake as well...
I got a little carried away in the details...hehe

What did you tweak on the Deception?  For the price, I would hope no tweaking would be necessary...

How does the body material and weight compare to the DSD?  I have looked at those hens, and they look good in the picture.  I was considering adding one more hen the the arsenal, and I like the look of the Deception, and the cost is just a tad lower than DSD...  But I like the fact that the DSD will take a beating, and even a few pellets.

Those decoys look very good...  If they don't come in, it is not the decoys...

I just detailed the eye with the metallic bronze on the Deception then a gloss clearcoat...and cleaned up a few lines around the beak, and the pink....etc.
trust me, it didn't need anything....i just have a compulsion to over do everything!

It is very light, and will take a beating....the dsd jake I have is the older model and is hard plastic..and a little heavy.
i have not held the newer dsd's, so I can't comment...but the Deception is considerably lighter than my avion x.

I just love the posture of their hen.
