Title: Federal 3 inch Heavyweight # 7 Pattern w/Trulock Fed # 7 Choke
Post by: rob_brady on March 09, 2015, 07:58:08 PM
Not getting very good patterns with the Trulock Federal # 7 choke and Federal # 7s. Anyone else using this combo had any issues?  The gun is new (Winchester SXP Turkey 20 ga.) and I was giving it a light cleaning every few shots. Gonna give it a thorough cleaning and try it again. I tried some Mag Blends and they were just slightly better, but not much...

Looks like the bulk of your pattern is low.  Are you shooting at a big piece of paper, 30"x30"?

I had it on a large piece of cardboard, but I had shot several times trying to sight in a Fastfire (that's another story). These were shot with open sights. You're probably right, I think the POI could be little low.  It still seems splotchy to me though. I was getting some very nice dense, but even patterns with #8 target loads that I was using to sight in the Fastfire. I dunno...

Take a much coarser bead sight or else put the bead at the very top right of the head and see what that does.
You are low and left as is.
