Title: Different cuts.
Post by: deerbasshunter3 on March 09, 2015, 07:12:47 PM
From what I understand, different types of cuts on diaphragm calls are good for certain types of calls. Which cut/number of reeds is best for purring and clucking?

That's really a question you will have to answer for your self. A certain cut may run good for me and 100 different others guys but bad for you. We all have our own air flows and little habits that have to be matched to the calls we choose. Most call makers will state each calls general strong points but its gonna come down to trial and error on your part.

I would guess most folks do well with a cutter cut.

The call that works best for me for calling soft, clucking and purring is a lightly stretched two reed batwing. You very well may find something else that works better for you though.

Which one do you use? Dead End Game Calls makes one specifically for purrs, clucks, and soft yelps, but I want to look around before deciding what I want to get.

Man, the fun part is trying them.  Relatively speaking they are not costly.  Buy, try, practice ,repeat.  Your not going to build Rome in a day.  I am enjoying the learning process now too.  It's a blast!

My philosophy is to try them all!

I like the idea of trying them all, so I am going to set up a PayPal account so y'all can give me money to pay for all of the calls I am going to try. Haha!

All jokes aside, I think I have a good combo with my Primos diamond cut for yelps and my Legacy Lone Hen for purrs and clucks/cuts.
