Title: Mossberg 500 owners
Post by: MEbeardlover on February 18, 2015, 10:51:04 PM
Ok Mossberg 500 owners, I'm looking for your input. I have been using the factory turkey choke, which seems to really like the Remington Nitro #4 loads in 3". I get a good pattern out to forty yards, and dropped my first bird stone dead at 36 yards. I know some will say, "Why mess around?" But, come on, we are turkey hunters; we all mess around.

I have tried several loads, but not chokes. So, what works for you in terms of choke and load combos?

Truglo SSX and longbeard 6s.

That's a very deadly combination.

Thanks,
Clark

I had really good luck with a Primos tightwad and Longbeard 5s.

My 500 is my backup gun.  As of right now, I'm running H13 3-2-6s thru a .660 Jellyhead.  That combo is definitely deadly out my short 20" barrel.  I haven't tried Longbeards in it yet.
