So my son has had an 870 20ga 21" barrel for a while, I just picked up an 11/87 in a 20ga 21" barrel.
My son uses a rem SF choke with TSS #9's and we're loving the patterns. Not so tight that it needs to be scoped, but tight enough to reach out there. He killed a nice bird at 55yds last year.
I know every gun is different. But can I expect pretty much the same result out of the 11/87 as we're getting out of the 870, using the TSS #9's and Rem SF?
I'm not pressed on getting high # counts and definitely not going to scope.
So far I picked up a Rem SF and an HS Strut. Just waiting to build my trap and then do some shooting.

Patterns will likely be similar with both. If you are loading your own TSS shells, you'll want to pay close attention to the shell length for the 11-87. You may need to trim the hulls a bit to get it to cycle correctly. This may also require you to adjust your load recipe, which will give you a different pattern outcome between the two guns.
