Who has hunted Wayne county before? This will be my first out of state hunt, I plan on being there April 16-20th.

I live about 10 minutes from the county line, wayne county USE to be the place to go. Not so much anymore, we had a 1400 acre lease and we would hear 40+ birds a morning and then it went to crap. It's better now but nothing like it was

Thanks,  I have read a few articles about the decline in harvest numbers since 2010.I also read that they did not have a fall season to try to increase numbers.

Three of us hunted Wayne County last year on some of the WMA's last spring for a week.  Great looking country, but we were surprised at how few turkeys we were able to find to hunt there.  Most of the places where we found birds,...which wasn't many,...there were hunters consistently hunting those spots.  It was tough hunting, for sure.

I would rethink wayne county.There ate alot of better counties for turkeys in middle and east Tn.

I use to hunt Wayne County every year and hear several birds every morning.  But something has happened to the turkey numbers in that area.  Wild hogs are very abundant in that county and I attribute nest predation to them.   :OGturkeyhead:
