Title: Mossberg 500 bantam trigger job?
Post by: timberjack86 on February 07, 2015, 06:59:23 PM
My daughter cannot squeeze the trigger. Looking to lighten up the pull alittle bit. Should I take it to a gunsmith or is it so simple I can do it? I haven't looked at the trigger yet.

I did the trigger on my girls 500 myself. Also worked in the safety to make it easier for them to work. Can't remember the exact process but I assure you it couldn't have been that hard.
If you have any doubts at all tho in respect to your ability to do it correctly, take it to a gunsmith for safety sake.

Had the same problem with my daughter's. Horrible trigger!

Took mine into the gunsmith. World of difference.

The 500's trigger, according to the  gunsmith who worked on mine, is more complex than what he had seen on other shotguns.  It is pretty miserable out of the box, but once worked on by someone who knows what they are doing, can become crisp and light (and safe).

Gonna send it to a gunsmith. Thanks everyone!
