based one the old beaman graphite arrow shafts.... theory...the wood in the core of the striker is not needed....the wood grain is similar to the strands of graphite in the old arrow shafts....I drilled 1/8" of the core out of the striker from one end to the other...and it resulted in a more raspier yelps...... cuts were maintained and purrs were improved...compared to a striker of the same wood and from the board with the same outside profile with a solid core..here are the pictures
