Anyone know who makes the Redhead decoy?
What is your opinion of them?
Don't want anything super cheap, leaning towards the HS Snood. But as a newbie have to start somewhere.
Personally I think suzie snood looks better. But I have never used either one.

I like you am a newbie and posted about cheaper decoys. From all the research and questions I've done it seems that although expensive super realistic decoys certainly can't hurt it apparently doesn't make huge difference. If you are on a budget...i.e. you have a lot of stuff to buy...having a good patterned shotgun and good sounding calls and learning to use them is the most important thing. If you already have these then by all means spend more on higher end decoys.

Agreed! Your shotgun set up....calls and the ability to use the calls is the most important! Having a good amount of woodsman ship is way more important than a decoy. After that decoys have there place but if your on a budget and don't have the first things down Id put the decoys on Hold or at the bottom of the list! I don't dislike decoys and have a few myself but I don't rely on them to bring a gobbler in. Happy hunting!

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I don't mean to say moneys not a issue, but the extra30-40 bucks a decoy isn't going affect my bills or putting food on the table......I just don't like wasting $ :-)
I should be good with my gun, set up, just need to pattern, which I'm anal on shooting weapon prior to using them, as a matter fact, I always am convince the weapon will shoot better than I can shoot it.
I do some road time, traveling as much as 2-4 hours between seeing my guys, so since last fall, I have acquired about 1/2 dozen mouth calls, and have been feeling fairly efficient with them. Also download as many turkey hunting podcasts to get myself educated as quickly as possible. Here is a plug for "Turkey Hunter Podcast" with Andy Gagliano.
I'm a backpack guy, vest don't really appeal to me, so about all I need to acquire is a decent seat and the decoys.
I have two hen and a Jake redhead decoy. This fall I had 5 long beards come right up to them. As a matter of fact the one Tom that I killed was in a dead run as soon as he spotted them. He went straight to the Jake and bumped it. I shot him and the others wouldn't leave, trying to run that Jake off. I'm not saying better looking decoys wouldn't work better but if you want to save money I think the redheads will suffice just fine.

there made by a cheap asian company i dont remeber the exact name of it but it wasnt any of the "big Brands"... when i used to work there i bought some becasue of the discount and the struter i took right back wasnt impressed, i do however have some of the smaller hens just for when i cant stand to cary anything esle much longer lol
I got a RedHead Reality Series HD Turkey Decoy - Lookback Hen last year on sale it looks fine. I do not always use decoys and truthfully prefer not to, but if you need a hen this one packs light and wil get the job done. Good luck!!!
I had the lookback hen and passed it down to my son. I killed a couple of birds using it and it's not a bad decoy. It did have a goofy green tint to the paint so I did a little custom paint job on it. What I mean to say is I hit it with a very light mist of flat brown spray paint. I moved on to an Avian-X breeder hen or I would still be using the lockback.
Mine was NOT the Reality series.
They all work fine. It's just personnel preference and how much you want to spend.
