I'm hoping to put a team together for this coming season's competition. I have never bagged a turkey and this will be my second year going after them. This site has been a great help and I have received a lot of tips and support to bag a big tom. Now, it's time for us noobs to put the experts to shame and bag bigger turkeys.
If you have never killed a turkey, PM me if you'd like to join the team that will wipe the boards this year. The requirement is that you are a beginner turkey hunter and are still getting used to this great sport.
If you are worried about experience, your captain here is one of the most inexperienced turkey hunters there is. I missed my turkey last year because I decided to call my wife on my cell phone. This tom came right into my inflatable charokee decoy. ;D I'll stop there.
I'm hoping to get the ball rolling soon. If I get at least 5 members, we'll give it a go. All you noob lurkers of the board, hurry and register an account on the site, message me, and we'll make it happen.
PM'd
pm to ya
Great to see we may get a team together. Below is a link to everything you need to know about the contest. I'll regularly keep in touch with everyone for updates.

Thanks! Looks like we're really getting a team together.
PMd!!!
Looking great! I'll go ahead and register the team later tonight when I have more time. I've talked to a few and they're in. To anyone that's still looking to join, this will be a great opportunity to chat with everyone that is just starting out. It should be a great experience for us all. I just ask that when I register you for this contest and to be a part of the team, you remain an active member of the site. We're all new so no worries. We don't judge.
Bumping this for more noobs
Good luck, one of the hardest thing for any team is getting everyone together on the rules/pics.
Wish you guys well.
Come on guys! This will be fun and a great learning experience for all us noobs!

Hear, hear!! Hope you guys win! BTW, I suggested a team name to GomerPyle -- "Team Struttin' Jakes"... I also thought of something funny, too (but dated) -- "Team Chicken Hawks"... hehehe... In any event, GOOD LUCK to you guys!!
Team Struttin' Jakes is an awesome name considering the theme of the team.

Yep! :)
I don't know, I'm kind of liking the Chicken Hawk name if I'm remembering the cartoon correctly! He'd make a mean mascot.

that's it! either one of these ideas would make a cool logo for y'all... anyway, that's my "elder statesman" recommendations; y'all have fun with it!! can't wait to see y'all deck some birds!!
I like both names!

I'm hoping you can fit me on the team...Kevin

how many members do we have so far?
We are currently at 8
Team Noob sounds like the best team name to me.
I think we need jerseys. Team Noob till I die! (Or until we become more experienced I suppose)
#NOOB4LIFE
Got room for me?
I want to join. I know bamagtrdude and GomerPyle.
bamagtrdude gave me some advise last year and set me loose on my first season. I killed 5, including 1 with a bow ;-)

JuniorPre 360, I fully endorse Adam's add to the team; he's a turkey-slayin' machine & would put us in a good position this year to do good...
It would be nice to know where everyone is from too. I reside in ol high jackson alabama.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana hunting in Hattiesburg, MS
Tuscaloosa, AL but also hunting in Ozark, AL
Michigan...the Detroit area, just on the edge of farm land, so it is really nice for the kids. Like we are out in the country, but the highway is only 5 minutes away. Woods, 75 feet! Deer, turkey, coyotes, all sort of birds and wildlife right in front of us. Nice...
Brownstown Michigan
Tuscaloosa, AL
im in upstate NY!
I'm going to visit some new ground this weekend in hopes of seeing some Turkey sign. I want at least a couple of extra areas to hunt where I know Gobblers are present. So, the unofficial start to my Gobbler season starts in hours! HA!

Excellent stuff, Kevin - good luck, bud!!
In from central PA (Blair county, Altoona) but I hunt around Glendale PA. And in Cambria county.
It looks like the admins of the site have created a board for the teams this year. Here's a link to ours. http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php/board,217.0.html (http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php/board,217.0.html) Feel free to make new topics and ask for help. I'd also encourage to share tactics, videos, links, and deals you may find around the internet. Don't be afraid to ask since we are all new. I'd also ask that each team member relaxes and don't get after another for asking what you may believe is a stupid question. We're here to learn and become better hunters.
The team is updated to this point, welcoming Model 1300 as our newest member. If you still want to join, PM me and we'll get you on the roster.

I PM'ed you, re: adding AdamSean, a 2nd year turkey hunter, to our team
BTW, check out the Spur Collector's area & see if we'd like to adopt their posts/format for posting our pics/scored birds... Just a thought; might as well "copy" what others are doing vs. invent something ourselves...
I'm in Omaha, NE.
I'm a 5 year turkey hunter from Amarillo, Tx. Fairly new to the forum and really kinda puzzled what this contest is but if you need another in available.
SW Wisconsin. Be easy on the cheesehead comments today, will be recovering for a week or two.
To make matters worse, have to spend the next two days in a meeting with a colleague from Seattle, he has already reminded me of that tonight at dinner.
I like rooting for the packers & I am not a Seattle fan
(even my wife could see what a bunch of obnoxious fools the Seattle players were from the post game interviews), so I was really bummed out when the Packers lost. In all honesty, I felt like they were giving the game to them late in the 4th WHEN they didn't try to drive down the field a couple times late in that game. Seemed like they were happy trying to fun out the clock & then it bit them and allowed them to get the ball back & score that trick play. Then a couple freak plays & they were in over time. Just felt like that lack of killer instinct by the coaching calls cost them that game. Really a heart breaker.
Only thing that could come of this that is good is I went to Michigan, so I'm a Brady fan. If Brady and his crew could beat Seattle, then all could end OK. I'll be crying the big blues if they lose!

Went scouting today. Saw all sorts of Turkey sign on 2 new properties. I'll be keeping an eye on them as the season nears. So, the 5 hours was a success that way.
Found another really heavily used deer trail too. Looks like a late season place where deer appear to be hiding from hunting pressure. A pretty thin strip of marshy area just off a main wood lot that gets hunted hard. Really looks like nothing, but the deer were using this heavily over several days of snow. I'm going to hang a camera there this summer to see if they continue to use it.

That's awesome, dude!! CANNOT STRESS the importance of pre-season scouting enough. Good job, bud!
