Title: A turkey hunter is gone
Post by: Bigspurs68 on November 17, 2014, 09:24:08 PM
A great friend and great turkey hunter lost his fight with cancer Sunday night. My buddy Criss Rice was a great guy, great friend great father and husband. Y'all would have been proud to have known him and would have laughed at his stories. To most of you it's just another person but we lost a turkey hunter.
I expect him to be with me this spring. Y'all kill some for him. He'd like that. I'm gonna miss my buddy. The turkeys, will surely not.

Hate to hear that man. My condolences. The one thing that you always have is the memories and time spent, it'll give you an extra reason to smile every time you put your hands on a gobbler.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of your friend. I have said a prayer for you and his family.

I have a friend who has passed that never fails to come to my mind when I make my way to the turkey woods and I hope it's always that way.

Keep him in your thoughts and he'll never truly be gone.

Clark

I completely understand your pain.  I am so glad I told my dear friend, Kenny Morgan, that I loved him a week before he passed.  He hunts with me now every time I go, and he gives me both comfort and confidence.

Thank you all so very much!! He was a real catbird so... If I miss one this spring, I'm gonna blame Criss. He would get a kick out of that. Thanks again, in times like this, y'all come thru like family.

Just to let y'all know, we buried Criss Saturday, just up the hill from where he killed his best bird, a 1 3/4" spurred bird he called "old sly". He had 2 calls in his hands and a old box call in his lap. Wearing his camo of course. Hauled him to the cemetery in his truck because he said he didn't want to ride in no "herst"...
Before the funeral, my youngest girl killed a nice old buck and the first thing she sad when she walked up to it was " thanks Pig". That's what we all called Criss.

Sounds like the perfect place to lay him to rest.  I'm sure he would approve.  Praying for family and friends.
