My buddy just sent me this. He was cutting hay next to our land. Saw the nest and didn't cut close to it. I have my suspicions but am also an optimist. What do you think happened? There were no tail feathers present... looks like mostly breast feathers. He saw a hen close to this area yesterday.

Birds of all kinds line their nest with breast feathers. It doesn't look like a kill site.
There are only 6 eggs in the nest and the hen has not been on it today, at all. This is in Louisiana., so either it's a 2nd attempt small nest, or possibly 2nd or 3rd time and she is still laying??? Just figured some guys may have some ideas. I did not know about breast feathers and turkey nests. I've seen a few but can't say I've ever seen that many feathers.
Looks like a last attempt to nest. She may haven given up for one reason or another.
Normally they would lay the whole clutch before setting begins ,8-15 or so
with only 6 eggs in the nest we can hope she is out feeding and going about
her daily routine.
