I was just wondering how many calls y'all take out when hunting?

This year, I mostly carried 2 or 3 mouth calls, two pots (slate and glass) with 11 strikers, and sometimes a small box call.
This year I carried 3 friction calls, 1 box call and 3 mouth calls. Only used 1 mouth call and my box.
This year I carried 1 mouth call, and 3 of my friction calls. They really liked the glass over glass this for some reason. Had several guys using my glass, and all had great luck with them this year.

One or two trumpets, a wingbone, a tube call, two pots with four strikers, a scratch box, and a box. Also carry a couple locator calls, crow, woodpecker, and owl. The trumpets and wingbones are my primary calls but everything got used at one point or another.
Slate, copper, glass pots, 3 strikers, 1 box this year.... I'd like to get a new I beam vest to be able to carry another box next year. I'll be adding some mouth calls next year too. I'd like to get an Ed Jenkins glass pot to replace my production glass call.

As always, way more than I really need to.
3 box calls
3 pot calls with assorted strikers
6-8 mouth calls
3 trumpets
I could surely get by with far less but they've all killed toms at one time or the other. Sometimes only one proved to be "THE" call for the day.
Also carry a crow call and a pileated wood pecker call. Natural voice for owl.
1 Box
1-3 trumpets
1 wingbone
3-5 mouth calls
4 pots and some strikers
Got some other things like locators but going to cut back on some of them. Just do not use/need them.

1 gobble shaker
8 strikers

Beginning of the season: 2 tubes, a box, a crystal pot and a slate pot with 3 strikers. 5-6 mouth calls
Towards the end of the season: 3 tubes, glass pot, slate pot, Frictionwood and 4 strikers. 3 mouth calls.
Sometimes a mouth call and a couple spares. Other times, more than I can remember!
a truck load with a sink.
I feel unprepared after reading all these responses. I carry one diaphragm and one slate with one striker.
I carry 2 pots, 3 strikers, and 6 diaphragms (my holder carries 6).

7 mouthcalls, 2pots/2strikers, haint, and a box call.
4 mouth calls
4 pots with 4 different strikers
1 box
2 pushpin
1 trumpet.
no locators as they have not actually located a bird for me in at least 10 yrs.
This was my first year, but I only carried two mouth calls and a box call. Owl hooted with my hands. Only really used the box call and my hand hooter. Yelped a little on a mouth call, but I am still learning them.
I dont feel so bad now... I felt like I was a walking turkey call store:
I had
4 mouth calls
1 box call
4 pot calls ( slate, glass, ceramic, and aluminum)
8 strikers
1 wingbone yelper.
I guess Im just a gear hound.
1 box call
2 pot calls
4 strikers
6 mouth calls
Natural voice owl/crow
3 mouth calls, crow call, haint, box call
1 long box
1 short box
4 strikers
5 pot calls
1 trumpet
3 mouth calls
I used them all at one point during the season.
Six mouth calls, one slate (at a time anyway) and sometimes a box. I usually carry three strikers.
It's usually so humid here the pot calls don't work well until mid-morning anyway. And yes, I've tried waterproof strikers with less than stellar results.
My vest weighed 9 lbs. last year before season. I trimmed it down significantly... I am embarrassed...

I was thinking the same thing. I can't imagine having to tote all that stuff.
I carry
A folded cloth mouth call carrier with 6 to 8 diaphrams
A slate with three strikers
A Harrsion Owl Hooter
Between 4 and 7.
- 4 or 5 mouth calls
- 2 box calls
- 1 gobble call (which also works as a crow call)
This summer I am planning on making a tube call or two just for fun, and if I can get them to run, they will probably go into the vest as well...
I have thought about learning to use a pot call, but the frustration of losing those little strikers would outweigh the benefits for me. :help:
