Had a great season this spring. Started out with tagging out in NY with some good birds, and then I wasn't ready to stop hunting so I bought a PA tag and filled it today. Some might not think of this as that big of a deal but here is why this season has been so awesome:
Last year my mother in laws friend gave me her deceased husbands 870 SM after I had only met her once. She knew I was big on turkey hunting and said her husband would want to see it being used. It was one of the most humbling experiences I have ever had. I made a vow that I would use it all this season (only changed the choke and put a red dot on it) & it has paid off. I would like to think that her husband was with me on these awesome hunts. Cool thing is that next week I will take my nephew out and see if he can't get a bird with it as well. At the end of the season, I will send her the pics and a write up the magical season that I had. Good luck to all that are still chasing this beautiful bird...
PA bird: 9in beard, 19.6lbs, 3/4 & 7/8in spurs
NY bird 1: 8.25in beard, 18lbs 12oz, 1in & 7/8in spurs
NY bird 2: 10.5in beard, 24.8lbs, 1 1/4in spurs
Congrats on a great season!!!
Congrats. I lost my father in law this past year and was able to put one of his calls in my bag. It has not called a bird in, but it has been with me all year. My goal is to use his shotgun next year. I am guessing you had a great helper in the sky looking over you. Keep the gun clean and wear it out on turkeys like it was built to do.
Well Done.
Great story and good job. You are exactly right sir.....that gentleman was sitting right beside you in spirit....I believe it!!
God Bless you.
As it should be. Good job.
Congrats

Thanks guys. Can't wait to see if the magic continues with my nephew Monday, Friday, or Memorial Day (the only days that his schedule and mine will work).
