Yesterday I had the privilege of taking a 78 year young (except for his knees) friend turkey hunting
he's done alot of hunting, but not for spring gobblers
at our first setup I picked up some movement at the ridge top and here came this black bear
I pointed him out to my friend and we watched the bear put the sneak on us till he got our wind.
He stood there 30-40 seconds then turned around and off he went. ranged the spot where he stood and got 31 yards,------judged him to be about 250-275 live weight, nice bear for western Md.
we drove thru some heavy thunderstorms about 1 1/2 hr before flydown
never heard a gobble cluck or yelp, but seeing the bear made our day
even the crows and ravins were quite all morning
Sounds like a pretty fun and exciting hunt!
Sounds very cool.

That's pretty cool...I had a black bear walk up on me when I was elk hunting in Colorado. He was walking directly at me when I was sitting on the ground in a fallen pine tree. He got to about 8 yards before I stood up and waved my arms at him before he ended up in my lap. He spun around and bolted out of there pretty quick at that. It's amazing how fast they can move when they want to. Of course no bear tag or I probably wouldn't have even seen one.
Very destructive animals always ripping my trash apart
This is the first one I called in while turkey hunting
called in three over the years with a fawn distress call while bear hunting
they can be real quiet coming in when they want to
Nice.........
that would be cool to witness
Sounds like a cool hunt to me.
