last Monday I set up on some birds and they hammered at 1st light. right up until 6:30 am it was a gobblefest and then bam. nothing. sat until 8:30 and not a sound heard anywhere. here comes the rookie mistake, I moved and ended up kicking them off the roost.could have kicked myself. fast forward to this morning.went back to the same area but set up in a little better spot.1st light gobblefest on.i could tell they were still on the roost. 6am and I hear some gobbles from the ground. a couple of light calls and I see them coming. I shut up and get ready. he starts to turn away from me so I give one soft call and at 25 yards my bird was down at 6:10 am. I just wanted to say thanks for all the tips and help in these forums. I followed some of the advice given here and it spelled success. what a great place for newbies and old timers alike. my 870 and Winchester supreme #5's are an awesome combo. i'll be grilling some fresh breasts on the grill tomorrow. :turkey:
