Post by: johnz on May 01, 2014, 10:25:56 AM
i have some heavy shot 13 i got for my sons mossburg bantam 20 gauge. its safe to use that in the factory xfull turkey choke correct? I  have a carlsons mod that is ok for lead, steel , heavy shot. but feel that pattern may be to open. Im hitting the range tonight to pattern the heavy just wanted to make sure  heavyshot ok to use in factory x full choke. thanks for your help.

I talked to a technical rep at mossburg yesterday and asked , and he said DO NOT shoot heavy shot thru the facrtory x full  turkey choke. I was very surprised , but glad i called.  he reason was the chokes not upgraded and made for heavy shot. so not patterning the heavy 13, i'll just stick with the highbrass winchester double x  lead til i get a new choke for his 20 gauge.   i was told that the  heavy 13 patterns tighter than normal lead, not sure if it is true, but i will  pattern the carlsons mid range choke he has when I pattern the new turkey choke.

I would not waste any expensive shells on a mid range tube, pattern will be too open! Get a suntoy, hevi tube, carlsons or tightwad!
