Title: utica, NY area help
Post by: sasquatch1 on April 30, 2014, 08:58:21 PM
I have a friend that lives in the Utica area and I am looking to extend my turkey hunting past my local states seasons. I was wondering if anyone out ther knows of a public area around there that would be worth checking out?

Im not very familiar with the area.  i dont think its too far from the adirondaks.  The DEC site might help more.

There is one spot just west of utica but not very big, but honestly I would use the link provided and head to the Adirondack Mountains.  Tons of state land there and gorgeous country plus less chance of running into other hunters.  The Adirondacks are getting a nice population of turkeys.  Not too far north of utica is where it begins.

Lots of state land just north and not too bad on pressure depending how much time you have you should have a good chance of punch a few tags.

more state land than you could hunt in a lifetime in that area & just south. Excellent hunting for birds. Mike
