So on opening day the morning hunt turned into a winner for the tom's as they would not come in. Then into the woods and I walked up on one tom shot and missed. The afternoon was different as two toms came in and only one left. The bird weighed 22 pounds and had a true 9 inch beard but the odd thing was he has some hairs in his beard that were 14 inches long. Enjoy!!
Congrats! I've got to take a Merriams trip one day. Those birds have the most beautiful tail fans of all the sub-species!
