I've been hunting this flock of birds all season and have thrown everything at them decoy wise. I used the DSD jake by himself, jake with a submissive hen, individual hens and nothing would pull him within bow range.
Today I decided to bust out the DSD strutter with an upright hen. Figured I'd try and tick him off. A hour or so after flydown he made his way to his strut zone with a jake in tow. I hit him with a soft yelp and he gobbled and went into strut. He caught view of the strutter and dropped out of strut, dropped his head and started a slow jog toward the decoys.
I got ready to shoot and it was happening so fast I almost forgot to turn on the camera: http://youtu.be/qKF6DeQCZc0
He didn't look like he was going to stop so I sent a 100 grain bullhead his way and anchored him.
Now my DSD strutter has wings!!! :gobble:
18lbs, 9" beard, 15/16" spurs.
