Today started youth weekend. What a major disappointment took my son and nephew out. My son has been before first time for the nephew. Not one gobble was heard, not one turkey seen. We had a huge temp swing lastnight was pretty cold and windy. Does that kind of thing affect the birds gobbling?
The Mississippi youth season was cold/windy also. I had to scrape the ice off my truck windshield each morning. Generally , that is a bad omen. The youth seasons need to be during the regular seasons where only youth can hunt.
Another cold moring and nothing. We finaly did hear gobbles late this evening but it finally warmed up to 60deg. So top priorty is to get my son and nephew birds this up coming weekend when the season opens.
It was good to hear that gobble got me fired up....lol
