I'm a big fan of the 870, so that is what I would go with.
870 Max Gobbler
x2
20 turkeys for 21 shots with my 870, I can't coplain. Sam
The 870 is the all around gun and people use it from uplanders to deer hunters. Just my 2 cents
i have both, and love both, but would go with the 870.
another vote for the 870
870
I also have both and choose the 870 every time.
1187 - good all around gun even for fast repeat shooting like waterfowl too-
It is gas operated and proven to kick less than even many of the newer fancy import auto's
Another vote for the 870.

Wal Mart $350 for camo 870 and $650 for camo 1187
+1. Can't beat WM prices.
The 870 kicks HARD, but is lighter to carry, and being a pump, is worry free. It will always go boom, boom.
The 1187 is a bit on the heavy side, but it won't kick your teeth out. It is a little more high maintenance. Keep it clean and it will always go boom, boom.
Either one is good. Get a Jellyhead choke and polish the barrel and it will produce a great pattern.
i love my 870, bought an 887 this year i hope its half as good
Got the 870, love it... and it doesn't jam up like an 1187 could
we did some surveys before the crash and most of us shoot camo 12 gauge pumps.
If you got the money I would go with the auto but I hunt with pumps.
