Title: Hevi13 #7 vs Fed HW #7
Post by: Briar on March 21, 2014, 12:04:19 PM
Here is my dilemma.  I was waiting to buy my shells til my birthday so I could use a gift card,  Reading on here about Dunns I had my fiance get me a gift card for there to get my Federal shells.....well of course now they don't have them and I am sitting here with the gift card like this  ???.

They do have the Hevi13 shells in the #7 shot 3 inch.  Are these comperable?  I have the SPS-T with the Rem Super Full and and SSX chokes....Anybody have any info or do I just bite the bullet and save the card??

I'd get them who knows if you wait long enough they may be out of them too.

The Hevi13 will absolutely kill but they don't pack the same punch as the Fed heavyweights. You'll get more pellets will the hevi13 though. I use the Hevi13 #7 in my 12 gauge and it kills them out to 40yds. Those are the exact same pellets coming out of the 20ga but less of them. If you can pick up one box of the Hevi13 and pattern I would recommend that. If you get a killing pattern, use them.

With my gun, I got better patterns with my RSF than the SSX. Yours could be completely different though.

For most 20GA guns - Fed HW #7 wins hands down.

Both work well in my Beretta but the Fed HW hit harder.

SSX and Hevi 13 in #6 and #7 shot has been a good combination in the past and certainly worthy of consideration. There have been some winning shots at NWTF shoots with the SSX and H-13 #6s in 20 gauge competition so they can't be that bad.

My remington with hevi 13 7s and an SSX averages 155 at 40. It puts up big numbers for me.

I haven't shot the 7's but with Hevi 6's I average 125 out of my 21" barrel 870 and a Sumtoy.
