Anybody hearing anything yet. Went out the other morning and didn't hear a peep. Maybe still too early? I'm getting anxious to hear that first gobble, just hasn't happened yet for me.
I haven't heard anything where I'm at in Madison county but I think it's a tad early. Where are you located?
Quiet here in Pike Co.
Still a little early.. Warm weather next week you ought to start hearing some.
Central IL. I plan to go back out again tomorrow morning.
Anyone got any reports of gobbling in Macon or Madison Counties?
Guess what I heard this morning! :funnyturkey:
Didn't hear anything on the roost at all. Looked around for some sign and wasn't seeing much. I was on my way back to the truck and spotted a turkey in the field. I sat down and watched for a few minutes. Pretty soon, he gobbled. Then he strutted for awhile. I'm guessing there were some hens in the woods, but I never did see them. He gobbled probably a dozen times in the field before he left. Spring is here!
Central IL
It is coming for sure..... :turkey2:

We're getting wind chill temps in the teens, freezing rain that's turning to snow in Madison County today but then it's supposed to turn nicer........hopefully will stay that way and let spring take over.
They were gobbling saturday morning on roost in west central IL where my friend was, but I did not hear a single peep in my neck of the woods.
Gobbling on the roost here in Lawrence County. Saw two strutters yesterday morning as I was driving. :)
It has been SO danged windy here in Madison county that you'd have to be sitting on the limb with them to hear anything. Hope it calms down and turns off nice.
They been gobbling for a couple weeks now in union jackson counties. Starting to gobble on the ground some now. Been seeing them strutting in the fields also.
Went out again this morning. 38 degrees or so, no wind, no clouds. Beautiful morning. No gobbling on the roost again. At least none that I could hear. But about 8:00 I heard one sound off. He was on another property, so I never did get to see him, but he gobbled several times. I'm having a hard time figuring out where he's roosting at. It's always been later in the morning when I find him... Hopefully he hangs close for another 3 weeks.
Calling for 23 degrees and snow showers here in S. Il. Tues.
Had a hernia operation last Thurs. so haven't been out listening..but did go today and pull some cams. Got a few gobbler pics..looked like they still had their longjohns on to me.
We were un the teens again last night and probably won't see 30 today. More snow tomorrow and Tuesday. Then we are supposed to get some high 30s and possibly mid 40s by end of week. Havnt heard any birds gobblin or any struttin goin on yet. If the weatherman is right and we get 50s here in week maybe I'll start to hear em
Madison County is supposed to be steadier in the 50's for the next 10 days but sort of rainy. Hoping to get out a few mornings and listen. Anyone from around here hearing anything??
Anybody get out lately?
It's storming here today.... :(
Cold and rainy here also, next week supposed to be holdin steady in the 40s, so maybe that'll get em started
Was scouting a friends new lease with him in Woodford county, ll was silent there yesterday morning but we did find some fresh sign there!!
Friday evening saw a jake with 15 or so hens strutting and would shock gobble when I yelled at him. This morning they gobbled their heads off on the roost. All but one of them shut up when thy hit the ground. the one did gobble 3-4 times on the ground. Jackson county
Saw 11 turkeys today along the crick across from my farm. No struttin.
Was out for youth season with no success, Birds gobbled well on the limb but not much on the ground, they hammered in the evening both days as well!
Heard a couple this morning as well. Season starts tomorrow, aaaand I have to work. :OGturkeyhead:
I also made it out for youth hunt on April 5th and 6th. Like it was mentioned previously, the birds were hammering off on the limb. Real quiet once on the ground. 10yr old son had a great time but we didn't have the patience to wait them out!
Gonna brave the storm tomorrow for the opener. Strong thunderstorms tonight turning into steady rain in the am with 25-30 winds. I doubt they will be doing much of anything lol.

Hunted first three days of first season, 2 in Jo Davies and One in Carrol calling for a friend. Hard gobbling on the roost Tuesday and today, not much after 7:30, killed mine at 7:15 and my killed his at 11 but was silent. If it warms up they should really start rippin it!
Called for a friend in Kankakee county, fair roost gobbling and very little after fly down, managed to get one going at 10:30 and he met his demise at 11:07, was not hammering but just enough gobbling to track him.
Spent the last 7 days in the turkey woods, crazy weather had them off a little, couple really good mornings for roost gobbling but after fly it was sporadic, few birds gobbling late through the morning but nothing hot or consistent! Should crank up with the nice weather coming!
