The local fire company had a turkey shoot. I had never tried anything like it before so I called them to see what requirements they had. Only thing was had to use a 12 ga. So I asked about chokes. They said I was allowed to use whatever I wanted as long as it was a 12 ga. So I screwed in the Jellyhead. I ended up winning 3 of 10 rounds. 2 Spiral cut hams & a turkey for the freezer.

Good job. My Indian Creek choked 835 has won a few also.
I showed up at one with my short barrel, pistol grip and reflex sight and a guy asked me "is that some kind of military gun?""
Sounds like fun. Congrats

forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is a "turkey shoot"....I mean, is it just to see who can shoot the target the farthest? most pellets in a circle? someone please explain how this works? I've heard of them all my life but never participated or even watched one....
I guess some places may be different but those around here they supply the shells, cheapest dove loads they can find and you shoot a card with a x or cross on it. Closest single pellet to the center of the x wins. Mostly luck but tight shooting gun improves your odds.
Congrats.......
that how this one was.

We use to go to them all the time when I was younger, but I haven't heard of one being held around here in several years. They was a lot of fun. Ours was always a piece of typing paper with an X, then the closest pellet to the center was the winner.
Congrats!
