Do you have any turkeys to do any gobbling. I know Mississippi has been hurting for a couple of years. Things are that great here in Alabama either.

Buddies that hunt outside Fayette listened this past Sunday and heard two gobble.  Was some sign but not as much as they hoped.  Property was pretty wet in one area.  Hopefully the temps will rise and the birds will gobble!

I am very familiar with South Mississippi. These are all prime counties for turkeys. I have hunted in quite a few of these areas in the past.
I know the spring is late but it seems like it is different than ten years ago. North Mississippi is in pretty good shape I think but the population must be down in the South.
We have much the same situation here in Alabama. Some of the prime areas in South Alabama just don't have the birds we had ten or twenty years ago. Farther up the state it seems to be no change , maybe even better in some areas.
It just seems that it hasn't been the same since Hurricanes Ivan ands Katrina. Ivan made a mess of our timberlands as I know Katrina did yours. I just believe it hurt us.

Well i have been 5 times down around natchez and heard 1 bird gobble twice on the limb. Plenty of sign and great places over the last several years. I cant remember the last time that it has been this poor of gobbling. I cant figure out the lack of gobbling. Usually by now they are at least hammering good on the limb. Hope when i take a vacation the first week of april that they will be sounding off good.

Heading to Union tomorrow, maybe we can locate a couple that have unzipped lips. Realize later would be better, but spring break is now and I'd rather go with my son now than by myself later.

I've heard few gobbles In Tishomingo county. Pretty good bit of birds up here most gobbles I've heard was on opening morning. One gobbled bout three time Sunday of opening weekend, and one gobbled 3-5 times yesterday. Have not had many good days too hunt. Always pretty while I'm at work and nasty on the weekend lol. Overall I've seen several birds just not much gobbling. Maybe they will sure enough fire up in the next week or two

I haven't been since saturday because of an incredibly large amount of tests this week, but I have been hearing birds 20-30 times on the limb and maybe once or twice on the ground. The only birds being killed around here are two year olds, although some guy killed a bearded hen somewhere around here. All of this is coming from Oktibbeha County. I did hunt in Lauderdale Co. the other day on a lease and heard several birds, worked one from daylight until 8:30 or so but he got hung up for one reason or another.

One ole pasture bird in newton cry with 11 hens gobbling, that's the only vocal one in 4 days so far. I've been running and gunning elsewhere while my some is focusing on the pasture bird and I have not heard a gobble, nor seen much sign

On 3/20/2014, I heard one way off in the distance hammering on the limb. Ended up getting on a 2yr old that gobbled pretty good on the ground early morning. Other than that, almost no other gobbling to speak of so far the entire season.

Weather was rough here last night. Hunted franklin county again this morning. Nary a gobble. Maybe it was because of the rough night. Dont know though as i have only heard 2 gobbles so far this season. Either they still aint hammering good or im in a horrible slump.

Gobbling good I'm Tishomingo county this morning. Got on one at first light but someone came in from other side and bumped him early. Met up with my buddy and his girlfriend one sounded off about 8:30 all fired up. Covered a lot of ground to us but wouldn't cross a creek with very steep banks. Decided we couldn't get around him with all of us without crossing property lines. So we backed out and decided to fight another day instead of trying to sneak up on him the other way, and possibly bump him. He probably gobbled around 60 times though. Beautiful morning to hunt.

Two buddies hunted attala county this weekend said they gobbled good on roost fair on the ground.  Were able to kill three two years old gobbling right off roost.  Hunted differently spot saw two in field didn't gobble or strut wouldn't work at all!

Just went behind my house this morning on my family's land. Three different birds gobbling. One was wearing it out constantly, the other two hushed up once they hit the ground

finally heard 2 gobble 5 times on the limb this morning. hit the ground and not a peep. called up 3 hens in my lap. thought for sure one of those toms would be tailing them. nope, they hung around about 20 min and finally eased off. cant believe an old boy wasn't tagging along. anyway at least I finally got to hear a little gobbling. adams county. :blob10:
