I love the pattern from the JH .665! They all look good, but that's the one I would hunt with.
Good work! :icon_thumright:

Yes that is my favorite as well. My JH chokes always have done well. I just picked up this JH 665 to add to my 660. When it gets warm again i am gonna try the 3 inch 5&6's through my 870.Lee

That's a great looking pattern. I bought the 5's and 6's to try out when it finally warms up and quits snowing. I have a jellyhead .665 and from your results it looks like a great combo with the longbeard #5's. Thanks

I have always liked #5 lead..I will shoot this combo this year through the JH .665 in my 3 1/2. 11-87. As soon as it warms up i will run the 3. inch through my 870 to see how it does. Lee

I dug this thread up in a search, as I'm looking to try the Longbeards this year, and hoped the OP could answer a few questions.

I have the same gun and choke JH .665 and really liked that pattern in the 5's. I always used 6's in Hevi, but when using lead, I can't see going any smaller than 5's.

Questions? Which load was that in the 5's 3.5 2oz. or 2 1/8 oz. ?

And how was that pattern at 20 yards? Thanks

What choke was used in the last pattern?

I picked up 2 boxes of LB #5's for my 11-87 21" barrel I have not gotten to shoot them yet waiting on my vent rib TruGlo sights for it first. I can't wait to shoot a few rounds off out of my gun as this gun has killed many geese this year with a Carlsons Long range IM choke and steel shot can't wait to blow some LB's through it.
