Hey everyone I would like to get a real world number on the average yardage that everyone kills turkeys.....
Just kinda curious. Please just post a number so this thread doesn't turn into a argument lol and I will average them sometime. I looked through all my photos and I always wrote on back of them what was used and how far.
My average is 30yd
Figured it out once probably 6-8 years ago.
28.5 yards
15 to 25
I have not kept records, but my guess is 25yds.

25-30 sounds about right for me. I get anxious when they get inside 20. :)

Between 15-25. I know my gun will kill a bird at 40 but I cant bring myself to shoot much over 30.
Probably 20-25.
probably < 20 yards
20-25yds.
22
I'm not sure, but most have probably been around 30-35 yards, I'm guessing.
15-25 yards for me but not afraid to shoot one past 30. just don't get a chance often.
30-35yds
First good shot he gives me!! Taught this by a old turkey hunter 45 years ago!! best longbeards!!
35yds
Probably 30
20 yards average.
Most between 20-30yds.
18 - 20 yards
First time he folds his wings after 30 yds. other wise I have shot them as close as 5 maybe 6 feet.
I think there is a lot of variables here. I agree with the blind or no blind thing. I have only hunted out of a blind a few time, not really my thing. If I'm backed up to a tree I don't really want him right on top of me and about the first good shot I got at him inside 40 it's boom! I also grew up hunting in the swamps of Florida, and 40 was a long shot in most places because it was so thick. I now live in Tennessee, and my average has increased, but I'm going to say between 25 to 35 in most all cases.
Couldnt tell you. Step off very few. Can tell you this....all have been in death range
Never kept up with yardage but around 20-25.
Most misses definitely under 12-15. :turkey2: :newmascot:
Get a few inside 20 yards but majority are in the 35 yard range.
Avg. ~ 28 Yards
25 yards
Around 30, but range from 7 steps to well past acceptable OG range

Lol... I'd say for me prob average 35 yards... I don't play with em!!! If there in range I let me have it
"16 paces....."
As long as they ain't running or flying inside whatever looks close enough I'm shooting.
Average is probably over 30.
P.s. I'll shoot a runner or flyer if they are spooked.
Probably around 30yds. People have a tendency to under estimate the distance. lol
25 yds
Around 20 yards average for me. I only ever shot at one turkey over 35 yards. Most of the places I hunt are pretty tight cover.

25- 35 yards is the magic distance for me more like 30-35 '---- 25 yards is a tight pattern --
Some spots I hunt you would be lucky to see 20 yards in one direction
I'd say 30
20-25
25yds. Every Single One
30 yds
