Title: Remington Moving to Bama
Post by: CASH on February 15, 2014, 06:47:50 PM
Remington is expected to announce next week that they will be opening a plant near Huntsville, AL and moving 2,000 plus jobs to the state.

Glad the NY governor is not ours, but he sure helped Bama out

Being in the south has some advantages -- year round favorable climate , pro industry
Policies etc...

I'll bet my bottom dollar the State of Alabama gave some good tax incentives etc.. to pull in those new jobs , and they will benefit greatly for it -- Good for Alabama !!!!

Believe me..the NY politicians could careless about the job loss. Have been driving business out of NY for a long time. What needs to happen is NYC needs to become a State on it's own. I'm tired of paying for NYC.
I'm planning to get OUT of NY. My taxes are out of control, and there is no work here. The last one out of NY ...shut the lights off.

I don't know if they air it on tv in NY but here in indiana they air one about NY and taxes deferred in jobs come there? You would think 2000 jobs leaving would have been a big deal!

Curt Russell had the right idea, blow the bridges and turn it into a penal colony.  What I don't get is people in NYC really think they are the center of the universe yet don't understand they are totally dependant on the outside world for survival.  If the country was not there to support them they would be the first to perish.  They produce absolutely nothing in that city to sustain themselves.

Glad to have Remington in Alabama.  :icon_thumright:

I'm glad to see them stay in US...we have too many guns from Italy and Turkey already.  It will be great boost to the Alabama economy and certainly they will find a friendly home there with employees who respect the outdoor way of life.

I think we all need to send prayers for the families of the honest, hardworking NY Remington employees who will lose their jobs...no doubt some of whom are 3rd or 4th generation employees....whose forefathers built the WWI Enfield rifle that Alvin York used to capture 132 Germans singlehandly, the 03-A3's many soldiers carried in WWII and the thousands upon thousands of quality sporting arms that literally every one of us has owned and used at some time in our lives.

It's too bad those employees are caught in the middle of politics they can't control and they pay the price of losing their jobs.

Godspeed to them.

Hate it for NY but they have nothing but Idiots in power just like the Whitehouse; we need to make sure and vote against EVERY democrat that is running this November for ANY office in ANY state; Glad to see that Remington is coming to Alabama; a GREAT move for the company; praying for those who will lose their jobs and hope that they will survive this decision; my advice to them is............

"Ya'll come on down here to the south, be glad to have ya" but keep the idiots in power there in NY.

Here's some figures provided by our local news station WSFA

The state fired $54.4 million in Remington's direction and successfully hit its target.

The money breaks down like this:

Remington will receive $38 million in incentives to offset a portion of the capital expenditures the company will make on the $110.9 million project, according to Alabama Department of Commerce.

Officials say the state's incentives will help Remington create between 1,868 and 2,100 jobs over the next decade. It will also help offset some of the costs required to retrofit Huntsville's former Chrysler facility as well as for purchase of equipment and machinery that the gun and ammunition manufacturer will need in order to do business.

The Dept. of Commerce also gave a $150,000 site preparation incentive.

Another $15.9 million will be provided by the Alabama Industrial Development Team (AIDT) which will provide pre-employment screening and training for the plant.

The state's totals do not include any figures from local incentives, which are not yet available.
