Title: Winter Wonderland
Post by: REBELYELL on January 28, 2014, 12:07:42 PM
I know you Yankees are used to this type of weather, but it throws us southern boys for a loop.
This is just ice and now it's snowing hard here in southwest MS. It's not fun driving in this crap.

Be safe.  I know for people who aren't used to it, it can be a real pain, especially to travel in.

Where I am in NY, it is a good day if it doesn't snow.  Just because we're used to it doesn't mean I have to like it.  I can't wait for it to warm up and melt this stuff away.  There's a Lake Effect event going on right now where I am.  Luckily we missed most of it last night as it stayed South, but we're getting some now.  Initial reports were calling for 2-4 feet over 3 days.  They aren't calling for that much now but we're not out of the woods yet.  It's bad enough right now that they cancelled my College classes this afternoon.

We had our first "real" snow last Tuesday....only about 4 inches.....but I witnessed one accident, saw 3 other vehicles in a ditch, and a line of 15 cars stuck going up a hill all on a 30 minute ride home from work. It is snowing outside again now, and practically all of the businesses around here have shut down!
Have fun, but be safe out there!

I guess after visiting Jody the snow made a visit in Georgia, we got 2 1/2" in the N.W. with 4" being called for in the middle part of the state. Suppose to go on into S.C. and N.C. tonight. I remember when I lived in Elizabeth City N.C. it got quite nippy there close to the coast.

It was still lightly snowing when I posted and we finished out at 3". Heard 136 students in Rome GA was going to have to spend the night at school due to road conditions and getting them home. Nobody down here can think in advance. =(

I posted this on another forum on Monday..........
"31 degrees when we got home from church yesterday. By 5 last night it was snowing and blowing so hard, I couldn't see the house across the street. It made me wonder how a bird the size of a turkey could hold on to a limb to roost in weather like that. It reminded me of a tom I found in the woods several years ago that was frozen stiff. He looked like he just hunched up in a snowbank and froze. Over the years, I have found several quail and pheasants that didn't survive winter storms. I hope that storm last night didn't kill too many of God's creatures."
This winter has been bad for so many.  We need a emoticon of a sad face waving a white flag.

I'm originally from Florida, but reside in Tennessee now so I thought this was kind of funny. This was on the Florida / Alabama line yesterday.(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd519/darn2ten/AC4EAA23-A924-4D27-B294-A13C4991FB2C-3439-000002F0DAF957E9_zpsfd0d9e0f.jpg) (http://s1223.photobucket.com/user/darn2ten/media/AC4EAA23-A924-4D27-B294-A13C4991FB2C-3439-000002F0DAF957E9_zpsfd0d9e0f.jpg.html)
