So Friday my brother in law calls me and says he pulled some old oak stairs out of a construction dumpster at a job hes working, so I go to pick them up and instantly knew they were not oak! they must have been pre blight wood because there are little to no worm holes in them! That's rite CHESTNUT! Could not believe it! He said he just grabbed what was on top so I drove to the site and got the rest. Most of them are 10.750 deep by 33 inches long and inch and a eighth thick. It was a indoor staircase so they arnt weathered just wore in the centers where they've been walked on for the last hundred plus years. The wife thinks im going to make benchs out of them, ya rite! Trying to get the square nails out of them with out hurting them to much but that's not always that easy. Just thought id share with you guys!(http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r778/fletchyscalls/0923131207_zps7ae8148a.jpg) (http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/fletchyscalls/media/0923131207_zps7ae8148a.jpg.html)(http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r778/fletchyscalls/0920132130a_zps4ea81dc4.jpg) (http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/fletchyscalls/media/0920132130a_zps4ea81dc4.jpg.html)

Not one hundred percent extinct! There are a few alive here in ohio but locations are highly guarded.
If I ever figure out how to post pics on here I will post this stuff, I believe I like it better with no holes awesome grain!
Great haul! There are at least 2 growing in PA as well.
