Title: Pond cypress for boxes?

Was wondering if any have fooled around with mill pond cypress for boxes, I have a almost unlimited supply on my brother in laws pond (354 acres of pond) super tight rings, dried one peice last week and am getting ready to go at it, any advice on lids ? Thanks Matt

I have done a few in the past. As long as it is super tight grain, then it should sound good with a walnut paddle or cherry.

I have used cypress that was so tight grained you couldn't count all the ring lines in a two by two inch square piece, and it made the best sounding box call with a figured mahogany paddle!
