Title: Bird in strut yesterday
Post by: turkeyfeathers on July 06, 2013, 11:59:43 AM
My brother called yesterday to say he saw a mature bird in full strut with two hens at side. Latest around here that I've heard of or seen.

I have seen a Tom in full strut in the fall while bow hunting. I think it was more for territory than breeding. Definitely pretty cool that your brother saw one with hens this late though. Maybe too wet a spring has left mother nature no choice but to have a late or second breeding season??

A week and a half ago in central FLA, I saw a strutter with a satellite gobbler and 2 hens. Late June, you don't normally see that here that late.

Yeah, my brother in law told me that he seen one on his property that was in full strut afew weeks ago. Territory thing is what I told him. Probley because the boss tom in that territory is gone (Im holdin him in the avatar pic  :icon_thumright: ) and there is going to be another boss try to take his place.

I have gotten several trailcam pics of them strutting in the fall. Here are a couple taken in November about 4 yrs. ago.
