Hi guys this may be a stupid question but im curious of the outcome. I have a Rem 870 and a Rem 870 Super Mag. I have the 870 sighted in, but want to try the sureshot stock on the Sm. I have red dots on both that are drilled and tapped mounted on the receiver, if I change stocks do you think my point of impact will change. I have heard people say that the shot will go where the dot is no matter how the gun is held. THANKS!!!
It's a red dot, not a laser guided weapon.
If the new stock is the exact same drop and cast as the old one you will be on. If not, you won't.
I believe if its a reflex style sight like the muellers and burris red dots that the dot being on is true as long as you dont change its poa..could be wrong
Correct...

You speak truth. Shouldn't effect a thing as long as you don't bump the sight.
If it is a tube sight though will it change?
I put a homemade cheek rest on a steady grip stock and couldn't figure out why I was consistently shooting low.
Thinking this could be the reason

That's the reason.

By changing stocks you arevirtuallyguranteed to change the POI relative to the POA. Print it on paper after you change stocks to make sure.
Anytime I change anything on my shotgun I go pattern to make sure. I've had Rem 870 guns that shoot off POA/POI and the problem was resolved by sanding down the side of the stock or the angle of the butt of the stock. This was after we determined the barrel/choke system is straight. An entirely different stock/ red dot or not.. would definately send me to the patterning board. Keep us posted on how that goes. Good luck.
